    MINISTER OF THE ECONOMY, PLANNING AND INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION

    HE Macky Sall, President of Republic of Senegal has announced the appointment of Amadou Hott as Minister of the Economy, Planning and International Cooperation. The Minister is responsible for preparing and implementing the policy adopted by the Head of State in terms of economy and finance, development planning, population, statistics, cooperation and development of the private sector and Public Partnerships -private.     VICE PRESIDENT

    As a Vice-President responsible for the Bank' activities in power, energy, climate and green growth for both the public and private sectors, he created the Complex from scratch, recruited all the Directors and led the drastic increase of the private sector activities. Under his tenure, the Bank significantly increased its renewable energy investments and 100% of the investments in generation in 2017 was in renewable energy. Amadou has also launched various landmark programs such as Desert to Power, African Financial Alliance on Climate Change and the Green baseload under SEFA 2.0. He positioned the Complex as a leader on private sector investments in electricity production in Africa.

    VARIOUS ROLES WITH THE GOVERNMENT OF SENEGAL

    Amadou Hott worked for the Government of Senegal as Special Advisor to the President of the Republic of Senegal, HE Mr. Macky Sall. He was the Chairman of the Board of Directors of AIBD and finally President and CEO of Fonsis SA, the Senegal Sovereign Fund that he has set up from scratch. Under his leadership, FONSIS had to launch with the private sector, several projects in the production of solar energy (30 MW), health, agriculture, hospitality, pharmaceutical industry, etc.

    INVESTMENT BANKER

    As an investment banker in New York, London, Dubai and Lagos, working on derivatives, corporate and project finance transactions as well as on M&A and other advisory transactions with a focus on Africa since 2004.

    His goal was to return to Senegal to teach finance and economics at the University but an unexpected event totally changed his plans. In fact, during the summer of 1995, he met a trader from a London investment bank. During a very interesting conversation about capital markets activities, he convinced Hott to explore a career in investment banking. He then applied for an internship at several banks in Paris and finally accepted an intern position at Société Générale during the summer of 1996 even though the salary was significantly lower than that offered by summer jobs. Thus began his career in investment banking.

EDUCATION

  • After the bachelor's degree, Amadou HOTT flew to France to pursue his higher education. He successively obtained a degree in Applied Mathematics in Economics at the University of Louis Pasteur in Strasbourg, a DEA in Market Finance and Banking Management at the University of Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne, after a bachelor's degree and a master's degree in science economic - currency finance option. He then completed a program of study in financial mathematics at New York University as part of an exchange program, after winning the scholarship offered by both universities.

    EXCHANGE STUDENT FINANCIAL MATHEMATICS

    Won the Sorbonne / New York University Scholarship enabling him attend courses of the Master's in Financial Mathematics at New York University (evening courses taught by wall street professionals) as an Exchange Student, while working full time at Societe Generale.

    Amadou Hott y a obtenu la Licence et la Maîtrise en Sciences Economiques – option Monnaie-Finance et le DEA en Finance de Marché et Gestion Bancaire.

    GRADUATE STUDIES

    After the baccalaureate, Amadou HOTT flew to France to continue his graduate studies. He successively obtained an undergraduate degree in mathematics applied to the economy at the Université Louis Pasteur in Strasbourg, drawing up a DEA in market finance and banking management at the University of Paris I Sorbonne, after the Bachelor's degree and mastery. He followed a program of studies in financial mathematics at New York University as part of an Exchange program, after winning the scholarship offered by the two universities.

    BACCALAUREATE

    He studied at the primary school Khali Madiakhate Kala of Guédiawaye (formerly known as Ecole 25), before joining the junior high school CES Pikine Est of Guédiawaye. He then integrated the senior high school Seydina Limamoulaye where he obtained in 1992 his baccalaureate in Sciences (Maths and Physics)

    Hott is nominated “Young Global Leader” by the World Economic Forum in 2012 among 192 leaders coming from 59 countries.

    TOKTEN

    Civic action: lecturer in finance at Gaston Berger University in Saint-Louis Senegal, in 2004 and 2005, as a volunteer with TOKTEN (Transfer of Knowledge through Expatriate Nationals), UNDP programme.
